Social media and I have a love/hate relationship. I love the fact that I can share things going on in our lives and pictures of our family instantly with our friends and family that live no where near us. But I absolutely hate all the games, spamming and so on that happens on social media. I also can't stand the constant changes in privacy settings...I want my stuff to be private and I only want the people I want to see it.
Ok well what brought this whole post on is that I have been getting really fed up with Instagram lately. Don't get me wrong I love Instagram but it seems that since they sold to Facebook there has been more problems. Half the time my pictures won't load or my news feed won't refresh. I also hate that now when I log on to Facebook I get to look at the same Instagram pictures I just saw in Instagram...it floods my newsfeed with stuff I have already seen. I completely get that putting it on Facebook allows people without Instagram to see your pictures but I still don't have to like it. I also have the same problem with Pintrest...seriously people I really don't need to see every single thing you pin and if I wanted to I would follow you on Pinterest.
So after all of that I have been thinking about switching from Instagram to Flickr. You can follow people just the same but you have the ability to share pictures with certain people that you want to. You can look at the pictures on your phone or you can use your computer. I was also able to upload all of my Instagram pictures & captions to it. And then you can order prints and stuff directly from them. I just signed up for Flickr the other day so I really don't know 100% if I am going to like this better and I am not 100% sure I am ready to give up Instagram but let me know if you are on Flickr so I can follow you.
I apologize if my rant offends any of you, that was not my intention. I am just fed up with the way social media has started to control our lives. If I lived closer to our family I would probably delete my Facebook account...at least until I felt it wasn't something I wasted way too much time on there.

Pinterest Monday: Buffalo Chicken Dip
Even though we didn't have a Super Bowl party I felt like we should have some sort of Super Bowl food...you know the kind that goes really well with a beer or two and can be snacked on over hours and hours of football and commercials.
I found this Buffalo Chicken Dip recipe on Pinterest and thought that it would be perfect for the Man and I to munch on during the big game. And let me tell you it was! We managed to eat the entire thing before half-time...yep it happened and the Man and I have moved on from that point in our lives. I did take pictures of the entire process but they are not very flattering for this amazing dip...so just trust me and make it, eat it and don't feel bad about eating the entire thing in one setting!
The only thing I might change about this recipe is that I might had more chicken. Maybe do 2 cups instead of 1 1/2 cups.
1 1/2 cups cooked and shredded chicken or 1 (12 ounce) can chunk chicken, drained (we bought a rotisserie chicken and shredded part of that)
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup Ranch dressing
1/2 cup Buffalo wing sauce (such as Frank’s Red Hot, not to be confused with their pepper sauce)
3/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
blue cheese crumbles (optional)
Heat chicken and Buffalo sauce in a skillet over medium heat, until heated through. Make sure to break up the chicken so there are no big chunks. Stir in cream cheese and ranch dressing. Cook, stirring until well blended and warm. Mix in shredded cheese. Pour into a shallow dish or pie pan and sprinkle with blue cheese crumbles and microwave it until the cheese melts. Sprinkle blue cheese on it if you like blue cheese. Serve with chips for dipping.

Pinterest Sunday: Pumpkin Pancakes
For a couple years now the Man and I have found recipes on Pinterest and have been trying them out. Some of them have become weekly/monthly staples in our home...others not so much! When we first started looking for new recipes is was a weekly at home date night for us to do together. With the Man's 6 month deployment, our cross-country move & the birth of Jackson we really got out of doing this on a weekly basis. We are hoping to get back into that since it is something that we both really enjoyed.
1 cup flour
1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup pumpkin
1 egg
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon vinegar
In a small bowl combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. In a larger bowl, stir together milk, pumpkin, egg, vegetable oil, and vinegar. Gradually stir in the flour mixture until just moistened. Spray skillet with nonstick spray and cook pancakes over medium heat. Turn when bubbles JUST START to appear. (If you wait to see bubbles all over like regular pancakes, they will burn!) Serve plain or with syrup.
This fall I found a recipe for cinnamon pumpkin pancakes. I am more of a french toast kind of a girl, so I was looking for a way to switch it up. After just one bite the Man and I both knew we would be making this recipe many more times! We have actually not made regular pancakes since trying this recipe...its THAT good! Since I have just decided to start doing these posts I don't have any pictures from us making them so you will just have to check out the blog I got the recipe from here for pictures.

Pinterest Friday
I absolutely love pinterest!! I can almost say that it has been a life changing site. I have been meaning to do weekly/monthly oh heck who am I trying to kid, every now and then pinterest recipe/idea posts. And by that I mean crap I got off of pinterest for myself to use, not stuff that people would actually want to pin & repin because I am a creative genius and can explain 100 different ways to use the cardboard from a toilet paper roll. In all reality I have very few uses for the cardboard from a toilet paper roll and am in no way a creative genius!
Anywho back to the point....tonight I was scrolling around on pinterest and came across this pin which then led me to this website which in turn took me to Amazon to buy this cookbook!
I am always looking for ways to prepare different foods for Jackson that are healthy and incorporate fruit and veggies that I wouldn't normally ever buy except for the fact that I am doing almost everything in my power to make sure my son is not a super picky eater like me. I am hoping this cookbook doesn't let me down. It had great reviews and the recipes that I saw on the website seemed pretty easy which is fantastic since I am not an expert chef...just in case I had some of you fooled :)
