"Potential Dates" with the Man

When the Man gets home I have a few things I would like to do:  "Potential Dates"
these are in no particular order

1.) Watch the movie the Hangover 2
The first one was amazing and this trailer makes the second one look even better!

2.) Take a trip to Yosemite National Park
I don't think these pictures do it justice
Tenaya Lake

Glacier Point

3.) Go Camping
California has a lot of amazing places to camp.  We could go to the Sequioa's, somewhere near the ocean or even just a lake near Lemoore.  As long as it involves us, a camp fire, smores, and a tent I know it will be a good time.

4.) Relaxing Poolside
I don't think this needs any explanation

These are just a few of the things I know I would like to do and I think the Man would also enjoy.  Hopefully we are able to go on a few of these "Potential Dates"

A Good Read

I just finished another book and boy was it ever good!  My Horizontal Life: A Collection Of One-Night Stands by Chelsea Handler was better than what I had hoped for.

There were things in this book that I know I could relate to and I am sure any other girl/lady/women out there that has been single and played the field before could relate as well.  Then there was the crazy stuff that you know really happened, even though you almost can't believe it is true and all you can do is laugh about it.

So for anyone who that needs a good laugh or wants to read about some of the crazy things a single person goes through dating or just having a one-night stand you definitely need to read this book! I do have to thank Melissa and Tater for telling me about the book.  I can't wait to start reading Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea

books for the next generation of children!

So a friend blogged about 10 children's books that everyone needs own. And I have to say I agree with her on a few of them and I thought I would add a couple of my own choices in there. Even though I have never read any of these books.  So if I ever have a kid or you have one and invite me to the shower I think these would be great gifts!

I think this book is extremely necessary for any parent!

Why not make your baby useful and teach them things that could benefit them in the future like making a drink! There are many more books like this by this author but I think this one would be my favorite.

Ok this one I put more in here for the Man than me.  I am not a big fan of Zombie things but he is so I guess if we ever have offspring we will let them choose

This is also another book more for the adult than the child but its funny and I like funny!

So again another Zombie book because the Man likes Zombies.  I think this one would actually be pretty good, maybe even better than 10 little monkeys!  I wonder if there is a catchy little song that goes with it?

Trip to San Jose

Here are some photos from the trip to San Jose yesterday.

Happy cows do NOT come from California!
This is just one farm we drove by

San Jose State, where Nicki will be interning for the summer

On Campus
interpret this how you want, Nicki & I had our own thoughts as to what this resembled

Giant cob of corn hanging in Target

Nicki's new roommate owns the largest can of tuna I have ever seen!!
4lbs of tuna!  I don't even know what you would do with that much tuna at one time.

Besides having to sit in stand-still traffic for 2 hours last night because of an accident, those pictures pretty much sums up our trip!!

Big Sister

Since I have been 5 years old I have been a big sister.  I didn't always like the job or title but I am stuck always going to be one.  Over the years I have grown to like my sister more and more :)  Ok so I always liked her but there have been A LOT of days where I was not her biggest fan.  You know the days where you have to clean up her mess or get blamed for teaching her swear words or how to flick people.....I still stand my ground that my parents, aunts, uncles and other family friends taught my sister these things!!!

But now I find myself preparing for her to temporarily move out to California.  If you did not already know, Nicki has a summer internship in San Jose, CA for the summer and will be arriving in Fresno on Monday.  I am so excited to have someone I know living within 3 hours of me! I am very proud of her for getting such an awesome internship but the location is less than ideal for her to move everything she needs to live on her own.  Granted the school is providing her housing and essentials like a bed, sheets, towels, dresser and pots & pans.  But you still need a comforter, transportation, tv and many other things.  So as she is packing her bags, I am thinking of everything else she might need and if I have it or not.

Then there are the things that I know I didn't have but being her BIG SISTER I knew I wanted her to have, like pepper spray.  So I bought some for her and myself and it arrived in the mail late last week.  I also found her a bicycle so she can get around.  So people of San Jose beware I am letting Nicki on the loose with a bike and pepper spray!!!

Who knows what else she will need but I do know that since she is my little sister it is part of my job to make sure she has it....especially when I am the only person she knows in the state!!

Nicki & I at my bridal shower!

the BEST thing since sliced bread

There are A LOT of things that I love in this world but I honestly have to say that Mint.com is the best thing since sliced bread.

About a year ago the Man and I where still getting use to budgeting together or rather I was getting use to budgeting for the two of us.  After doing some research I came across this site and let me tell you it is amazing!!!  1.) its free 2.) its easy to use 3.) categorizes everything for you 4.) view all my accounts in one place instead of checking 2 or 3 different bank sites

I am pretty sure using this site to help us budget and track our finances has saved us from a few disagreements.

CONCLUSION
Mint.com IS the best thing since sliced bread!  well at least for now

Here's To New Things...

There have been a few things that I have said or thought about doing over that past few years.

First on the list Blogging, it has been something I have thought about doing since I moved out to California almost a year & a half ago. Wow I can't believe I have been living out here that long!! It seems like just yesterday I left. Anyways back to blogging....A lot of things have changed and happened out in Cali and I this will be away to express those thoughts plus everyone back home will get to see some of whats going on.

A READER, something I have never been but always wanted to be!!  I have been telling myself, the Man and plenty of other people for awhile now that I WILL become a reader.  So in the past year I have now completed the first 3 books in the Pretty Little Liar series.  I know you may thinking that those books seem like something someone in middle or high school would be reading but I don't care, I started watching the TV series and liked it so I thought I would try the books.  Now I just have to go out and get the 4th one! I do have a couple other books I am hoping to start soon but I will save those for another post.

Now to the two things that I have not been so good and keeping up with.....scrap-booking & working out.
Lets just say I am not a big fan of working out and well scrap-booking is VERY time consuming.  So I am still working on both of those.  Hopefully buying Just Dance for the Wii will make working out a little more fun (I don't care what anyone says, Just Dance is a workout!!)

So here's to doing new things: blogging, reading, scrap-booking, working out and who knows what else!
not bad for my first ever blog
